Barley Grail Cooperative Brewery
The Barley Grail Cooperative Brewery will be a member owned and operated craft brewery located in Akron. Inspired by other cooperative breweries around the country, Barley Grail aims to bring NE Ohio’s home-brewers, beer-lovers, and community members together under one roof in the name of craft beer. Check out some established co-op breweries like Blackstar, Flying Bike, and Ohio’s own Fifth Street.
Once joining the Barley Grail, a member-owner gets a say in how to the brewery operates; from what beer is brewed, to what awesome events are held (we try to have one event a month), to everything in between, members get to have their voices heard. They also can learn how to brew on a larger system and have a beer they created be featured as a Barley Grail beer. We foresee many friendly brewing competitions amongst the members!
Whether you want to brew beer, decide on the beer, or just drink the beer – a membership offers something for everyone.
Making A Positive Impact
Barley Grail hopes to use its beer to help fundraise for worthy causes in the area. Members who are passionate about a cause, or belong to an organization in need of funding, will be able to brew their own beer (or have it brewed by a fellow member) to be used for fundraising. Think of it as more fun Girl Scout Cookie approach. Barley Grail currently supports Nicki’s Gift Foundation and Brilliant Mind’s Unleashed, two nonprofits focused on students with special needs.
